Happy 1911 Day!

I know I’ve written about this before, but as a reminder:

Following its success in trials, the Colt pistol was formally adopted by the Army on March 29, 1911, when it was designated “Model of 1911”, later changed in 1917 to “Model 1911”, and then “M1911” in the mid-1920s.

I posted a teaser for this a while back, and I want to do the promised full post soon. For now: Smith and Wesson PC1911, round butt, scandium frame, 4.25″ barrel, tuned by the Smith and Wesson Performance Center. Original SKU on this was #170344.

I shoot the 1911 best of all the guns I have ever used. I even owned one, a Tisas government model in .45 ACP. I only got rid of it in order to only have to stock one caliber.
Now with the many good quality 1911’s in the 9mm caliber, I have been arguing with myself about getting a 1911 in 9mm. I am intrigued with the Tisas Stingray, a commander length frame with all of the upgrades anyone might want. Plus a bobtail frame and the quality that we have seen coming out of Turkey and the Philippines.
Of course I would love a S&W or a Springfield, both from well respected domestic gun makers. The cost however of both companies is just too high for my ability to invest in either one.
The Stingray is currently selling on the market for around $550, a much more justifiable price.
