  1. […] has now put up even more extensive contact information for Austin City Council and Travis County bigwigs, complete with linkable, clickable goodness, providing a more efficient […]

  2. Tamerlane says:

Just sent this to every member:

    See the TEXAS code below:

section 229 of the Texas local government code.” Let’s take a look at 229, shall we? The relevant portion states:

    (a) Notwithstanding any other law, including Section 43.002 of this code and Chapter 251, Agriculture Code, a municipality may not adopt regulations relating to:

    (1) the transfer, private ownership, keeping, transportation, licensing, or registration of firearms, ammunition, or firearm supplies

    This is Texas after all.

  3. Could we please get a head count on which counsel members voted for gun control . Please don’t try to justify their actions with a long winded explanation of how they support the 2nd. Just let us (meaning most Texans) who we should work against in any election they ever take place in ever again.

  4. RONNE BONE says:

HOW WILL THE NEW SICK LEAVE PAY AFFECT COMMISSIONED SALES PEOPLE

  5. Steve says:

Sorry Charlie, some of us believe in the Constitution and rights.

  6. James Heath Clary says:

Will there be a penalty payment clause in the City’s contract with PSV in case PSV decides to move their team from Austin before the end of the 20-year contract period?

  7. Ms.Simpson says:

am writing in disgust regarding a neighborhood we,unfortunately, live in. You all should be Ashamed. You live in tarry town and your ritzy homes and donot Genuinely care about the cities you fake represent. The police Never respond,No report is taken seriously EVER! I saw a dirty, crazy white Urinate in the Street, did police do anything!? No. But yesterday I saw a black man being harassed by police and they took him. This neighborhood has prostitutes,Drugs, every dirty hispanic ever born and it’s appalling. These Idiots have ROOSTERS A HEN AND CHICKS IN A YARP HANGING FROM A TREE BRANCH!This is at 7301 twin crest drive apt 117.I am raising a Strong Black Man. My son is intelligent and he MATTERS!!!! We are better than the trash we have to see Daily.I know you all won’t read or care but wake up. It’s not only white ppl who count and it’s not their neighborhoods that deserve all good things. I am going to Keep speaking. You all are only in it for money and where you reside. Shame.On.You.All. I Will bring attention to this. I’ll get it right. This is only the beginning

  8. Kay Wolking Bratton says:

I SENT THIS TO MAYOR & ALL COUNCIL MEMBERS … As an American citizen who has lived in Austin for 26 years, I want you to know that the whole country is watching the behavior of all the city’s police departments right now. And even now more that ever before … we are getting proof of police brutality because the public are now using our phone cameras to document police public interaction. I am fed up with the number of black and brown folks being killed by the COA police … this was evident when Art Acevedo was here and has continued to today with Chief Brian Manley. This MUST STOP! Rather than Serve and Protect, it seems too many are focused on Injure and Kill black and brown citizens.

I don’t hate police, I am proud they wear their badges to serve and protect … what I am against is police brutality particularly to Black and Brown Americans and I believe it is WRONG for officers to lie to coverup wrongdoings as seen in Baltimore NY. And the shooting citizens in the Austin protesting was disgusting to see so many serious injuries … what did you expect when shooting in a crowd! SICKENING! We are personally donating to a young photographer who almost lost his hand while peaceful protesting in Austin, not looting, if he hadn’t had emergency surgery! His name is GEMICAH HALE!

YOU CAN DO THIS TODAY … Reform our Police Department … here are some things I feel need to happen in the Austin Police Department:
    1. Make police disciplinary records transparent
    2. Ban chokeholds and no standing or kneeling on people’s body or necks (I have been told this is not in APD training but it id being used & taught in the field.)
    3. Make false race-based 911 reports a hate crime
    4. Must appoint an independent prosecutor for any police murder case
    5. Officers must speak up and report when they witness other officers doing wrong
    6. Get rid of the silent “Secret Blue Code” where officers keep quiet, backup and support officers who have done wrong things!

As a result of these protests to police brutality, our eyes are wide open about how blacks have and are mistreated and killed by the police … My husband and I, both white & 74 yrs olds, will never just drive by when black and brown folks are stopped by the police … we will now turn around, get out of our car and watch at a safe distance and video the interaction to make sure there is justice and not another death or injury.

WE ARE WATCHING AND VIDEOTAPING… NO MORE SILENCE!

    Peace and Justice …

I’ve approved the above comment, but I do want to make it clear: comments here do not go directly to any members of the city council or the police department, and I have no evidence that anyone in city government or the APD (with one exception) reads any of the comments here.
