…I still don’t care about college basketball.
But I am picking Gonzaga to go all the way, again, just because I like saying “Gonzaga”. Try it yourself.
(Actually, I’ve seen some speculation on ESPN that this might just be Gonzaga’s year.)

I’m with you….except I didn’t care about tree hockey BEFORE the brackets were out! : ]
I remember once saying to Dad when he was watching a College Ball game “Is there any REAL Basketball on?”
I was an asshole then too. : ]
I think the funny thing, Weer’d, is that for someone who writes about sports as much as I do, I can’t stand them. I hate all forms of basketball (college, NBA, WNBA), baseball, golf, tennis…bowling was kind of fun to watch back in the 70s when ABC had the Pro Bowler’s Tour, and I always got a kick out of ski jumps. I also had a slight weakness when I was younger for any form of motor racing; Indy, NASCAR, F1, motorcycles, but everything except motorcycle racing has burned through my good will. Don’t get me started on soccer. I like to put on NASCAR or the NFL, but as background noise while I do other things, and if I’m out of the house I don’t miss them.
So why do I write about sports? One reason is that I’m fascinated by the business of sports more than sports itself. And Gonzaga and the Cubs have become running gags at WCD: I put up my $5, I lose to Lawrence, but I get more than $5 worth of entertainment out of it.
(Then there’s TMQ, but that’s a special case; Easterbrook is about 50% sports, 50% politics, and someone needs to call him on his BS.)
My feeling about sports is that I’d much prefer *playing* them then watching them. In fact, I think that’s the problem–too many armchair quarterbacks, not enough intramural participation.
