I’ve closed comments on posts older than 90 days in attempt to keep up with spam.
My blog is nowhere near as popular (or good) as Popehat, where I got the idea, but I was still dealing with upwards of 300+ spam messages a day in the filter. Comments on posts older than 90 days have been closed since Monday, and I’ve seen about a 2/3rds decrease.
If you do want to leave a comment on an older post, you’re more than welcome to use the “Contact the proprietor” link and drop me an email.
Speaking of spam, I wanted to let you know that your comment on my blog the other day landed in my spam filter and I don’t know why; it wasn’t my doing. So yeah, I don’t think you’re a spammer!
No worries.I figured it was either a WordPress oddity, or something that tripped Akismet. (Probably that it was such a short comment and had a link in it.)
I didn’t think you thought I was. (Though I’d welcome the chance to prove that I’m a real human at some point.)
Me too. You’re in Austin? Cooper’s in New Braunfels has GREAT barbecue…
I am in Austin.
I’ve been to a couple of the other Cooper’s, but I have not tried the one in New Braunfels yet, and I would love to.
I’m thinking “blog meet”; maybe we could get Borepatch and some other bloggers to join us. Though I’d like to get my plate cleared of at least some of my school obligations first…(the final in Constitutional Criminal Procedure is this Monday, so I’m hoping for some breathing room after that).
That’d be fantastic. My next four weekends are free, after which I’ll be starting a new job with Tuesday & Wednesday off. I know of at least one other blogger who lives in Austin besides Borepatch. I don’t know if he can vouch for Cooper’s in NB, but I know BP can; my wife and I met him there this last Father’s Day. Super-nice guy.
