I think everyone knows that I am not a basketball fan.
However, I am compelled to note that the Detroit Pistons are setting records.
They lost their 28th consecutive game last night. This ties the record for longest NBA losing streak, and sets the record for longest losing streak in a single season.
(Philadelphia lost 28 consecutive games, but that was across the 2014 and 2015 seasons.)
Their next game is on Saturday against Toronto: ESPN currently has Toronto as a 70-30 favorite.
Detroit is currently 2-29, for a .065 winning percentage.
The only time I watched the NBA was way back when Isaiah Thomas and the bunch won the championship for Detroit. Other than that, I find it boring, with nothing but a rather tiny segment of society who can put the ball in a hoop being made millionaires.
At least in MLB or even the NFL I actually played at the lowest semi pro level. In baseball I played in an independent league. In football, I played one year of semipro ball here in my small area, with all money raised going to charity. I didn’t play a second year of football due to hurting my ankle before the season during some conditioning I was doing with a few friends. I could not afford to miss time from work due to any injury, so I concluded that my contact sport days were over. I limped at my steel melting job for 2 weeks, having refused to let the ER doctor put a cast on my ankle.
Sometimes responsibilities to support a family take precedence over pursuit of fun hobbies, that might interfere.
