Ron Cephas Jones, actor. THR. Other credits include “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, “Law & Order: Organized Crime”, and “NYPD Blue”.
Chris Peluso, theater actor.
Randy Minniear, former running back for the New York Football Giants.
After playing fullback at Purdue, he was selected by the Giants in the 20th round of the 1966 NFL Draft and would first play in 1967, when Earl Morrall was the quarterback.
“They rate him as the greatest backup quarterback of all time,” Minniear told the Thursday Night Tailgate podcast in 2021. “And that’s one of the things they say about me. I was the greatest benchwarmer of all time. I will tell you this, while I was down there on the end of the bench by the water bucket not one was stolen in five years.”
“The Peripheral” and “A League Of Their Own” at Amazon Prime. Both of these shows had been renewed for a second season (though “ALOTO” had only been given a four-episode run) but Amazon is apparently re-evaluating their plans in light of the strike.
I don’t care much about the baseball show. I was slightly interested in “The Peripheral” because Big Bill Gibson. But I haven’t watched any of the episodes, and am kind of thinking maybe I should read the book first.
You should read the book no matter what since it’s probably Gibson’s best since the Sprawl trilogy.
I don’t know if you have seen this, but Swedish actress In-game Swenson passed away. She was the character on Benson with the extremely thick Swedish accent, which I don’t think was real. The blurb I saw noted that she was also known for her acting on the stage.
I had missed the movie that shall not be named when first you made note of it. Like a fool I had to chase it down and watch the trailer. I am a Christian, but I also spent 35 years in a foundry, so while I am not shocked by much of anything anymore, I am still disgusted by the world at times.
What is worse is that some of the reviews seem to be either ad copy from the producers or nobody has any actual sense of self respect. Even outlets like CNN are pushing this garbage. I mean, an R rated movie that depends on humor that is aimed at juvenile minds is just too much. And just tossing in profanity for every other word is even more than the most profane person I ever worked with in the foundry.
My wife and I are getting back into the movie attending mindset, after a pause of a few years. I am grateful for you pointing at this waste so our time and money is better spent.
It Is a strange thing that the same Hollywood that can give us really excellent films also gives us this.
