Friday loser update.

We’re a little less than a week away from the start of the football season, and about eleven days from the start of the NFL loser update, for those of you playing along at home. In the meantime…

Pittsburgh’s at 44-89, .331 winning percentage, 53.622 projected wins. That’s about 108 losses; we can consider the 110 loss goal still in play.

Baltimore’s at 49-85, .366 winning percentage, 59.292 projected wins.

And the Astros have moved into third (3rd!) place in the division, with a 62-71 record, .466 winning percentage, and 75.492 projected wins.

Football season, to me, means less expensive delivery pizza, thanks to a great alliance between Papa John’s and the Dallas Cowboys. Yum!

Love the “The Wire” quote in your blog’s subtitle!

You know, Earl, I’m glad you brought that up.

Speaking of people who should die in a fire: my local Pizza Hut, who, for some reason, decided they were “no longer going to accept Internet orders”. Note that other Pizza Huts’ still accept Internet orders; this particular one just arbitrarily decided not to.

Papa John’s, while I don’t like their pizza as much, does not have this problem.

Thanks, chief. I try to rotate quotes periodically, and not use quotes from “The Wire” in consecutive months, but you’re the first person to notice and comment on my subtitle.

(And for the rest of you, if you’re not reading Dispatches from TJICistan, you’re missing out. I consider it essential daily reading, and I don’t just say that because I agree with TJIC 99 44/100ths percent of the time.)

    Thanks for the kind words!

I wish more food places offered Internet ordering (fast food fried chicken, for example). I can get Chinese food through Eat24Hours.com; EatOutIn’s prices and fees are a bit too expensive for me. Some other places only deliver if you cater large enough mass quantities to make it worth their while. The balance point for me is based on taxi fare vs. delivery fees and higher menu prices.
