I feel like I am obligated to say something about the Houston Astros winning the World Series.
With that out of the way, I wanted to mention my Theory of Compensatory Suckage.
The Astros won the World Series. The Houston Texans are 1-6-1 so far this season, which gives them the worst record in the NFL at the moment. The Houston Rockets are currently 1-9, which is the worst record in basketball at the moment. Seems like everything balances out.
In other news: Frank Reich out as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
40-34-1 over roughly four and a half seasons.
The triggering event seems to have been the Colts losing 26-3 to New England on Sunday, and putting up 121 yards of offense in the process.
I know it is hard to believe but the Detroit Lions actually won a game this past Sunday. Even more than that, they made Aaron Rogers look bad, like really bad. 3 interceptions, with 2 of them occurring in the red zone. Rogers only had 4 of those, in his entire career!
One never knows, maybe firing their former secondary coach this last week gave them the needed change that the Lions needed, to give them the boost they needed to light a fire under them and get them to understand just what is required of them at this level.
The Lions are a very talented team, but they are also a very young team, and we must remember that the worst NFL team can usually defeat the best college team. The game is that much faster than it is in college. I have seen film from both, side by side, and studied it, and you would be shocked at the difference between the two. It is particularly easy to see on the line, where a tackle or a guard is expected to block 3 different players on the same play. And what is even more amazing, they usually do it. You usually can’t see it, unless the camera slows down, and is looking for that player, because they are just so fast.
My dad knew a man who was a running back who tried out for an NFL team, who reported early with the rookies. The first day, he was keeping up with the rest of the team while running wind sprints. The problem was, he was running his fastest, and the guys on each side of him were linemen. He packed his shit that night, thanked the coaches, and went back home.
Have a great week, keep on reading, and get some shooting in, if possible. And let’s both pray that the election doesn’t make people turn into idiot nutjobs, who want to invade our safety, if the vote goes against them.
