Still in on the road mode:
Bo Hopkins, actor. My mother described him as one of those “oh, yeah, that guy” guys.
Ronnie Hawkins, musician. I feel like some of my readers will have more to say about him (and they are welcome to do so in the comments) but I did like this:
“Ninety percent of what I made went to women, whiskey, drugs and cars,” he said. “I guess I just wasted the other 10 percent.”

Both of these guys were pretty much stalwarts of their industries. Not huge stars, but part of the backbone, if you understand what I mean.
Like the working man’s actor, or musician.
It sounds like you had a good time on the trip, and I wish you safe travels. I have been watching what has been going on with the NRA for quite some time, and it was expected to be much smaller this time. I just renewed my membership for another year, but I don’t intend to donate any other money to the group, until the lawsuits are done, and the NRA is no longer paying millions of dollars to defend Wayne Lapierre and company, after reading the depositions that they gave during the attempted move and bankruptcy.
I believe in the NRA, but am ashamed of the leadership. I hope things change for the better.
