If it hasn’t already been written, somebody could get a good book out of the history of comedy records roughly mid-century (I’m guessing 1950-1975, maybe slightly later). Especially if they went into the history of “blue” or “party” records: not just Ms. Warren, but Redd Foxx, Moms Mabley, Rudy Ray Moore, and lots of other now mostly forgotten folks.
Lawrence sent over two: Shane Briant, British actor. (“Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell”, “Cassandra”, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”)

Ah, Rusty Warren. My parents had one of her comedy albums. My twin brother and I listened to that, several Bill Cosby albums, and another one, Woody Woodbury, back when we were kids.
Rusty Warren was still performing into her later years, if I recall. Still as funny, still the lusty redhead. She seemed like she would have been a hoot to see live.
Woody Woodbury was another comic who was of the dirty/naughty nature, without being filthy like so many stand up comedians are today who look for the easy laugh. I think that he did quite a bit of USO tours in Korea, not sure, haven’t heard much of him since I was a kid.
My wife and I saw B.J. Thomas in St. Petersburg, FL, maybe 8-10 years ago. He had more hits than we remembered, he sang them all, and each one brought back the memories.
I can’t allow this weekend to pass without mentioning how grateful I am for those who gave their lives defending this country. I pray that somehow, we are able to bring this nation back to being worthy, so that their sacrifice will not have been in vain.
Rusty Warren was before my time (and my parents either didn’t have any “blue” albums, or kept them well hidden) but I’ve seen her albums in the used LP racks at Half-Price Books.
Woody Woodbury is someone I’ve never heard of, and will have to do some digging on. Thanks for the tip.
