The full obit for Christopher “Starcrash” Plummer will more than likely be tomorrow, to give the various papers of record a chance to react. The current NYT obit is a preliminary one, and I feel sure there will be corrections.
(And if ever Wikipedia needed a “[citation needed]” or [by whom?]” tag, it is for the statement “It is considered a cult classic.”)
When you see an actor from your childhood and for 50 years more, it’s a little sad and a little celebration. Sad we won’t see any more, but Well done, Sir! To have lived well and be remembered, not a common fate.
The Sound of Music is great, but I have know more than one little girl who found comfort in it after parents divorced. It is an accomplishment to give so much joy, passing entertainment, deep consolation, compassion through the works of a life.
I hope he died content and with the Lord.
RIP, Christopher.
