- Jackson State is apparently considering suing Grambling. Good luck with that.
- Missed this until Lawrence mentioned it, but: the suspension of the Grambling college paper’s opinion editor has been overturned. And the termination of the online editor has been changed to a suspension, but he’s resigning.
- Miami loses scholarships, but does not get a postseason ban. I mention this here for one sentence in the ESPN story: “But about 20 percent of information that was obtained was thrown out because it was improperly obtained.” What ESPN is glossing over here is that the NCAA made a huge mess of the investigation, and that’s probably why Miami got off light compared to USC. (Edited to add: better story from the NYT.
- TMQ tends to hammer on teams that “run up the score” against weaker opponents. In that light (and because it’s a good post) I want to highlight Ken’s “What Does Mercy Look Like?” over at Popehat. (To be fair to TMQ, in the specific case that motivated Ken’s post, Easterbrook has not complained about the conduct of the team and coach.)
